" Stella first came to help me and Bryan Ilsley with the jewellery. she tried making some of her own, but, although it was perfectly ok, she wasn't really satisfied. The I took up weaving - (oh happy days!) and Stella came to help me. I take credit for teaching her the rudimentsof the craft, Bryan made her a Navaho type loom and she was away! Navaho rugs differ from other rugs in that they have no finges, just a tuft at each corner, and they are harder to weave. I don't like calling craft work art, but in Stella's case i have no choice: Her rugs are works of art of the highest caliber. I am proud to have set her off to what was her destiny."
