louise balaam

about the artist Louise Balaam

Louise Balaam has lived and worked in Kent for 25 years. She came from a background in ceramics and clay sculpture, but has always loved looking at paintings and always had the desire to paint.

Balaam started painting about twelve years ago, took a degree in Fine Art at Kent Institute of Art and Design in Canterbury where she completed an MA in Fine Art.

Most of her time is now spent walking and drawing in preparation for painting, working in the studio, or organising work for exhibitions and galleries.

Drawing inspiration from sites which seem to have a particular significance and sense of place: looking over the Weald, the coast in Kent, St Ives or the amazing beaches in Norfolk, the spectacular views from the South Downs, ancient hill forts in Wiltshire, looking down into London from Hampstead Heath, or the Thames as it leaves London
